Our Musical in 2019 is...'Forever After'...

Unless you have been living under the sea for the last 10 years, you will have heard about the Centre Stage School “Musical” held every second year.  You will also be familiar with the Musicals that have inspired us in our full scale production planned in the Everyman Palace Theatre, Cork in February 2019; both ‘Shrek’ and ‘Tangled’ are set in a mythical land, where “once upon a time” is the beginning of every story, and our Musical in February 2019 ‘Forever After’ draws inspiration from these.  ‘Shrek the Musical’ is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared by any one who dares to cross his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation until he is dragged unwillingly back to the world of other creatures.  ’Tangled’ is the tale of the beautiful princess Rapunzel, who has been locked away in a tower since she was kidnapped as a baby by an old hag. Her long blonde hair has the power to provide eternal youth, and the evil Gothel uses this power to keep her young. At the age of 18, Rapunzel becomes curious about the outside world, and when a prince uses her tower as a refuge, she asks him to help her escape.  These stories are full of magical plotlines and incredible music, and are the perfect inspiration for our production which will involve all students in our Musical Theatre classes (from 1st class to 6th year) here at Centre Stage School.

School founder Aideen McAuliffe will direct, Dance veteran David O’Connor will choreograph and our supremely talented Musical Directors are Louise Luddy and Nicole McDonagh.  The dress rehearsal in The Everyman Palace Theatre, Cork will be on Friday 15th February, and our performances will be on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th February, and the excitement is already brimming about this production.  Auditions were announced to the Senior Musical Theatre class (who will play the lead roles) and will be held on Saturday 29th September - anyone wishing to audition must book an appointment with us in the office.  Take a look at the dance moves the Seniors have been rehearsing here so far for this musical - and all in the first class!
