Centre Stage School wow audience with 'The Little Mermaid' in The Everyman
Over 3 days, including 5 shows, 22 Musical Theatre classes, 140 students per performance, countless hardworking backstage staff and an enthusiastic audience, there was a real hum of activity and creative expression in the Everyman Theatre last weekend from Centre Stage School patrons. From Friday 14th to Sunday 16th February, Musical Theatre students from 1st class to 6th year (from the Mallow, Charleville and Kanturk area) sang, danced and acted their socks off in 'The Little Mermaid', mesmerising audiences with astonishing costumes, sets and visuals. 'Under the Sea' and 'Part of that world' were just some of the famous songs performed, with choreography by Keith Hanley (assisted by the very talented Musical Theatre teachers in CSS), Musical Direction by Louise Luddy, Production by Eimear Sheehan and Direction by Aideen McAuliffe. There was also local talent in the production crew, with Danny Buckley designing the sets, and Kerry Nyhan designing the projections, both of which made the production truly magical. While costumes were designed and managed by Mags O'Riordan, the striking props and head pieces were designed and constructed by Emily Dwyer, Amy Jean Bell and the Theatre Design Students in Centre Stage School. It was a huge undertaking, and one that the whole school is extremely proud of achieving. Centre Stage School would like to take this opportunity to thank all audience members, all parents who brought students to additional rehearsals, all staff that assisted on this production, and most of all the students who put so much time and energy into perfecting their performances. Well done all!
