Bumper Weekend for Events at Centre Stage School
The weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April 2024 will go down in history as one of the busiest weekends Centre Stage School has ever witnessed. Starting with Theatre Tot displays in Mallow that occurred on both days, to delighted family and friends, where stories like 'The Gingerbread Man' and 'The Three Little Pigs', were performed including songs and dances. Theatre Tots is a class which includes singing, dancing and acting, and is for children aged 2 years and 9 months (in the many preschools we visit for classes in the North Cork Area) up to Junior Infants (held in our studios in Mallow, Kanturk and Charleville). Meanwhile on Saturday morning the members of Junior, Intermediate and Senior Musical Theatre Company were making the long journey to Drogheda for the final of 'Show Tops' to present their 50 minutes long performance, which had gotten through the first round of competition just two weeks ago. Receiving 8 accolades at the awards ceremony that evening (which included 'Stage Mom/Auntie of the year' for Mags O'Riordan, best vocal group and best finale), the most special award that Centre Stage School received was 'Best School Sportsmanship', eliciting a huge response from the crowd when it was announced. Centre Stage School has already entered the competition for next year, as it was extremely well run and was a very positive experience for all involved. Also on Saturday 20th, an exhibition of our Art Students' work was occurring in West End Studio in Mallow. These Art students have been working hard all year on their pieces and it was wonderful for them to share their work with friends and family. And finally on Sunday, dancers from Ignite Company, Senior Company and Elite Company were sharing their talent at Aaron Dwyer Dance Competition in Dublin - this was the last dance competition of the year as all Dance and Musical Theatre classes will now be solely focused on preparing for the annual end of year show 'Footwork' in Cork Opera House on 18th/19th May. Centre Stage School wishes to thank all teachers who supported the students in preparation for this weekend, and all the parents who travelled to see shows, displays and exhibitions. Happy days!
