The company dancers from Centre Stage School, along with 11,000 dancers hailing from 70 countries, performed in Dublin from 8th to 18th July, in this competitive and joyful celebration of dance on a world stage; Dance World Cup 2026. Centre Stage School's Senior Dance Company, as part of Team Ireland, won the Silver medal for a performance called 'The Chain' in the Junior Contemporary section, choreographed by Aoibhinn Quirke, and the group's response was one of absolute elation and joy! Also from Centre Stage School competing in this global tournament, proudly representing their country, were Pulse Dance Company, Mini Dance Company, Ignite Dance Company, Dynamic Dance Company, as well as many solo and duet dancers, many of whom placed in the top 10 performances in the world in their section. Special mention must be made of Head of Dance at Centre Stage School Annemarie Cahill who guided all the teams to the high standard required for Dance World Cup in their weekly training, as well as Dance Teachers Aoibhinn Quirke and Keith Hanley for their commitment and passion in supporting and training these students.
120,000 dancers worldwide auditioned to compete in Dance World Cup 2026; only 11,500 got through, showing the incredibly high standard required to compete at this level. The opening ceremony was held in 3 Arena, with thousands of dancers, teachers, families and supporters celebrating the coming together of so many nations in the name of one true passion - dance. The Senior Dance Company returned to a surprise hero's welcome at Mallow Train Station on Sunday afternoon, with friends and family showing their support, pride and respect for this marvellous group of performers' achievements.
Fantastic support from friends and family has been a huge boost to the team, with many travelling to see the performances on the day. Centre Stage School would also like to thank their generous sponsors for their support in getting the team to Dance World Cup: Solar Hill, All Trades Shelving, Dermot Casey Group, Empyrean Solutions, Reliance Care Link, Avonmore Electrical, Derek Madden Accountants, Nuvola, McDonalds, Release Clinic, East Cork Oil Company, Crowley Transport - thank you all sincerely, your support means the world to these young performers!
