From Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th April, Centre Stage School's Company Dancers competed in the qualifying rounds of the Dance World Cup in Dublin, against some of the best dance schools in the country. Artistic Director Aideen McAuliffe travelled with the groups, and was vocal about her pride in the work ethic of her teams: 'I am beyond proud, emotional, and deeply grateful as I congratulate our incredible Centre Stage dancers, teachers, and families on qualifying for TEAM IRELAND at the Dance World Cup Finals this July 2026'. Hours of dedication from both students and staff have led to this qualification; practice, choreography, costume sourcing, endless rehearsals, carefully coordinating schedules - the road to this competition has been a long but rewarding one. There were, of course, challenges along the way too: unexpected injuries, complex logistics, and the mammoth task of travelling with 82 students over four days to Dublin, navigating road blockages, fuel shortages, and long, tiring journeys. However it has all been worth it, says Aideen; 'Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine Centre Stage would stand among 8,500 dancers from 47 countries, competing at such an extraordinary level. And yet here you are, rising, shining, and representing everything that is beautiful about dance. This team is something special. A collection of brilliantly talented, passionate individuals who adore dance and bring so much joy, colour, and life to everyone around them. We are so proud to be sending 4 soloists, 3 duets, and an incredible 17 group performances to the world stage — including the judges’ overall favourite duet of the entire qualifiers (Cillian Ryan and Lucyanne McAuliffe)'. Centre Stage would particularly like to thank Keith Hanley, Aoibhinn Quirke and Head of Dance Annemarie Cahill for the incredible work they have put into these teams in the past few months, as well as a wonderful group of very supportive parents!
To our dancers, your resilience, discipline, and heart are extraordinary. To our teachers, your dedication shapes futures and builds dreams. To our parents, your support makes all of this possible. Today, Centre Stage is floating on air, full of pride, excitement, and gratitude. Dance World Cup Finals… HERE WE COME!!
